About Your Instructors

Emma, @rococobasilisk, met Bella, @pealauer, while both worked for a vintage store that sold laundered and mended vintage and antique clothing.

Emma is an artist making meaning through dual practices: analog collage and textile repairs. They began their journey as a hand-sewist 8 years ago and have previously taught classes in patching and darning, as well as quick mending techniques. Emma’s repair style balances utilitarian concerns with the idiosyncratic styles of objects and their owners.

Bella, a graduate of Bennington College, is an artist and embroiderer who formerly managed the hand sewing team at Bode before launching her own project, Pea Lauer.
